Where to live in Ostrava: districts, schools and rents

Městomat for Ostrava is on the way. As for Prague, we will compare all 23 city districts: rents, the way to the centre by day and night, quiet and greenery, schools and kindergartens, doctors, shops and locals’ experience.

Ostrava is the third largest city in Czechia, with just under 300,000 residents and 23 city districts. Its centre is Moravská Ostrava a Přívoz, the most populous district is Ostrava-Jih with the housing estates of Hrabůvka, Zábřeh, Výškovice, Dubina and Bělský Les, and Poruba has the campus of VŠB – Technical University and its 1950s architecture. On the edges are quiet districts of family houses such as Polanka nad Odrou, Stará Bělá or Krásné Pole.

When choosing a home in Ostrava, air quality and noise from traffic and industry matter too, and they differ between districts. We will compare them together with rents, commuting, schools and doctors, from open data and from locals.
