Frequently asked questions

How does Around me work?

When you tap “Use my location”, your browser asks to share your position. We then show named places from OpenStreetMap and parks within a 15-minute walk, split into 5, 10 and 15 minutes, and the nearest metro, tram and train stops with their lines.

Do you store my location?

No. The position is rounded to about 10 metres, used only to show the page, and is never stored or written to logs.

How do you count walking minutes?

We count 80 metres as the crow flies per minute, the same as on every address report. The real route along the streets is usually a little longer, especially across the river or railway lines.

Does it work outside Prague?

Not yet: Around me uses Prague’s addresses, stops and places. We’ll add other cities once we have the same data for them.
