Where the faculties are

Brno's universities are not in one place, so it pays to choose where to live based on where you will travel most often:

  • Masaryk University (MU): most faculties are in the centre and in Veveří; the Faculty of Medicine and parts of science and sports studies are at the University Campus in Bohunice.
  • Brno University of Technology (VUT): most faculties are in Královo Pole, the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Veveří.
  • Mendel University (MENDELU): in Černá Pole.
  • University of Veterinary Sciences: in Královo Pole.

Every faculty has its own page with us, covering transport, chances of admission and neighbourhoods within 25 minutes by public transport: universities in Brno.

  • JAMU (Janáček Academy of Performing Arts): in the centre.

Living on the same tram line as your faculty often saves more time than living closer. The address check shows the way to the stops from a specific address.

Flatsharing

  • All flatmates should be on the tenancy agreement, or at least the landlord should consent to subletting.
  • Agree in advance how you will split the advance payments and the annual settlement.
  • Handle the deposit (kauce) and the handover report as carefully as you would for a flat of your own. The rules are summed up in the guide to the tenancy agreement.
